Any stamp collector would certainly agree, regardless of their collecting interest, some of the most attractive and intricately designed stamps are those found in the revenue section.  Inspiration for this Census comes from Kingsley’s book “Legendary Persian Rug & Other High Value Civil War Revenue Stamps” (1993).  The book is a facinating and informative piece of work dedicated to the famous Persian Rugs (Scott R132 and R133).

Among the Persian Rugs, there are also other beautifully designed stamps which are the focus of this particular Census.  These include the $200 USIR (Scott R102), the $0.50, $1, and $5 Proprietary “Rug” (RB8, RB9, RB10, respectively).
